The company was founded by the Malijević brothers’ decision in July 1991 in Kotor Varoš, with a desire to continue the tradition of wood processing started by their father and grandfather in 1990s. Starting from a small sawmill with several employees and continuing in the 25 years of its existence, Fagus founded 8 companies that are now members of the Fagus Group, with more than 400 employees.
In 2003, Vrbanja Šume, the company dealing with exploitation of forests and construction of forest roads, became the first member of the Fagus Group. In the next ten years, until 2013, all the other profit centres have become independent companies.
